Caregiver Training India
Founding members Ashley Everette and Sarah Fredericksen volunteered as developmental specialists at a non-profit, non-government-run orphanage in central India. They brought several infant toys and books for the older children with donations from Child’s Right to Thrive and other external donors.
Residing at the orphanage for one month gave these members the unique opportunity to observe and participate in the daily routines of the children, birth to 6-years-old, and their primary caregivers. Per the administrative staff’s request, Ashley and Sarah documented developmentally appropriate and inappropriate caregiving behaviors to facilitate a newly initiated caregiver re-training program.
In their work and collaboration with the orphanage staff, Ashley and Sarah emphasized the importance of positive, secure, and consistent caregiver-infant relationships in fostering healthy emotional and social development. These members request periodic updates on the training program, which is well underway, and continue to offer their support in the form of literature and materials.
